The next thing that will be entering my home is a fiddle leaf fig.  They are big... and although we don't have the most living space you've ever seen, I think I can make it work.  What a great way to brighten up a corner and bring color and freshness to a space.

As a fanatic for all white kitchens, it's quite a step for me to announce my love of blue cabinets.  The look has to be executed just perfectly to retain the high contrast aesthetic that I love.  I'm talking smokey grayish-blue lowers and white uppers.  It's true that I still favor Benjamin Moore Cobblestone for lowers, but this is definitely a close second.

on the radar: {target finds}

This console table is adorable and a steal at only $127 (It's 15% off!).  I'm dreaming of creating a cheery vignette using this table, leaning artwork and stacks of books!  It could even make a pretty darn cute bar if you put a mirror behind it, a orchid on one end, a styled tray on top, and some stylish bottles on the bottom.

Baskets are always a good idea.

I own this starburst mirror and think it looks way more expensive than it's $39 price tag.

These frames are not too modern and not too rustic.

Just looking at these organic blankets makes me want to crawl into bed.

These glass containers would look perfect on a bathroom shelf or ...heck, anywhere.

I really, really like this chair.

It's only $100 on Overstock ..and if you access Overstock through Ebates, you get 2.5% cash back (I'm obsessed with Ebates, btw.).  Of course, there's always the Louis Ghost Chair, which I suprisingly found for only $125 on Amazon.  All I need is one!

Decision Time!

Brandon and I have been casually looking around at different king beds for when we get married.  We know that, eventually, we will purchase a complete bedroom suite with a wooden bed.  But for now, our sights are on a simple upholstered bed to mix with furniture we already own.

I'm slightly obsessed with Joss & Main.  Basically, I drool at the website everyday.  They have great upholstered beds at a pretty awesome price.  I've found a few on there that I think would work well.  Here's where you come in... I want your help!  We may end up waiting and not purchasing either of these, but I'm curious to know your preference.

Thursday Mixed Bag

I've been juicing with my Big Boss Juicer every morning this week.  I thought I could drink a juice in lieu of eating breakfast, but I am just too hungry for that.  So, I'll have a fresh juice first thing and a breakfast "snack" about two hours later.  My juices this week have all had the same common ingredients, but I've tried to switch things up a little each day. 

 My favorite combination has been one green apple, 1/4 cucumber, a handful of baby carrots, a handful of spinach/kale mix, and a sliver of ginger.  Pretty darn good, but looks gross.

 

I don't know if it's my frantic facial masks and peels that I've done this past week or if it's the juice, or maybe both... but I have noticed that my skin is looking much more clear, even, and balanced.  Another thing that could have influenced this change is that I switched up my evening moisturizer and am now using Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair.

After a facial at Urban Nirvana, my esthetician recommended I start using a retinol cream.  I just couldn't justify $100 for the cream she wanted me to purchase, so I did some research and found that this Neutrogena product has received much applause for it's retinol properties.  I've only been using this for three nights, so I'll keep you updated.

 

Last weekend, my mom and I went to a little antique store that was going out of business.  I scored these gorgeous chairs and am in the works of recovering the cushions and putting a thin layer of stain on them.

I also got three of these little trinket bowls from the same store.  The store owner gave me the chairs and the bowls for $50!  The fourth bowl -the pink one on the bottom right- belonged to my great great grandmother.  I plan on using these in my vanity to store lipsticks and maybe some pieces of jewelry.

 

Ok, one last thing.  I rarely post about recipes and food I make on here, but I made a chicken recipe the other night that was so good.  I hesitated putting up a picture of my meal because I am not a food photographer by any means, but here it is.  Cheesy potatoes au gratin, roasted broccoli, and jalepeno popper chicken.

Brandon and I love jalapenos, so when I saw this recipe, I knew I needed to try it.  Oh, and it's easy.

For the recipe, click here.  Trust me, you want to make this.  Side note, I didn't exactly follow the recipe very well.  Instead of putting 2 tsp of taco seasoning in the panko crust mixture, I put the whole packet of seasoning in.  Oops!  It turned out awesome though and when I make this again, I will put the whole packet in again for the extra flavor it provided.

having a moment

I'm having a serious moment in the world of calm, earthy, simple, slightly rustic-meets-coastal interiors.  I might attribute it to my latest trips to Ooh! Events (my wedding coordinator/florist/rental company) and Elizabeth Stuart Design.  Everything in those places is just... right.  I'm loving the mix of simplicity with little trinkets and cozy touches.  Lots of candles, natural elements and great textures.  Soothing colors like white, gray, and ash-toned creams.
