coffee talk

Just a few matters to discuss today, ladies.

First... thoughts on the VS Fashion Show last night?  What I love even more than the show - well, almost - are the backstage videos. They show workout routines, hair, makeup ...the works.  Gotta say, I thought the girls looked more athletic than ever before - still skin and bones though.

Do you like pasta?  Who am I kidding... everyone loves carbs -right?  I made this recipe a few weeks ago and absolutely could have licked the plate.

Sometimes I get in a hair-rut.  I get tired of the same old styling.  Well, the girl behind A Lover's Anthology put herself to the test in "30 Days of Hair."  She tried a different hair style each day for a month and blogged about it here.

This quote.  It's so true - and what a good reminder.

Are you watching the current season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?  I somehow love it even more now that I've been to BH and can recognize the surroundings (& ate at SUR!).  So what do you think of the two new ladies on the cast?  I about died laughing every time Brandi called Joyce "Jacqueline" on Monday's show.  All other times I pretty much despise Brandi... but she's entertaining!

Ok, here's where I ask your help on one simple thing.  My brother is the general manager of a fitness facility in Myrtle Beach.  He has put a lot of hard work, sweat, and sleepless nights into the grand opening of this gym and it has gone very well!  Anyway, I'll cut to the chase.  Please take thirty seconds to vote for his gym in the "Best of" series!  You can quickly sign in through your Facebook account and hit "vote."  That's it!

Did you hear that the producers of the Sound of Music LIVE have already been in talks about doing another live show next year?  I really enjoyed watching and thought they were really smart about casting Carrie Underwood, despite what critics -or my Facebook friends, for that matter- had to say about her.  I know I wouldn't have tuned in if Carrie hadn't been cast, would you have?  I love the way she responded to the harsh critics.

Tomorrow I'm having my thyroidectomy.  You may remember when I talked about a few thyroid issues a couple months ago.  Well, I'm finally doing it. Thanks again for all of your kind words and encouragement.  I can't tell you how much more at ease I felt after speaking with a lot of you personally via email or just reading your comments.  The robotic surgery never worked out.  I know that was part of God's plan - I wasn't meant to undergo surgery that day, for whatever reason.  So here's to making a scar on your neck fashionable.  Going to learn to embrace my new scar and look at it as a symbol of strength and awareness. Check your neck!

Happy humpday!  I'm going to go get one last gym session in before the recovery begins.  Got to work off all the Christmas treats that have found their way into my office lately -ugh!

  2. my sister in law had her's removed after discovering thyroid cancer. you can hardly tell she has a scar!!! she's fully healed, cancer free, healthy and happy it's all behind her. :)

i'm not sure what cream she (religiously!) applied to her scar to heal it, but check w/ your dermatologist if you have one..... there are some fabulous lines out there for healing scars.

you'll be just fine! and like you said.... its a sign of strength and awareness!!

    best wishes and prayers tomorrow.

  3. I totally agree with you, I would have totally blown off the sound of music if carrie wasn't in it. I think she did well and people just didn't pay attention to the fact that it was the PLAY not the movie.

Sending you prayers and good vibes for the surgery! :)

  5. Good luck with your surgery, and you're right, everything happens for a reason. I'm sure the scar won't be too large, or very noticeable..they are good about that these days. The important thing is that you will be well! xoxo

  7. LOL about your RHOBH comment. Brandi was sooooo 'drunkish' and pretty hilarious. Joyce was driving me nuts with how many times she flipped her hair, right? And I am fully entertained by Carlton. Great season. And - GOOD LUCK with the surgery - you will be fine!!!

  13. Just voted for your brothers gym!
And good luck tomorrow in surgery. My sister had thyroid cancer when she was 25 after a doctor noticed her lump during a routine physical. She had the surgery to remove the lump and has not had any issues with it since. Her scar is undetectable! And her recovery was a quick one! I pray that your lump is benign and that you have a quick recovery.
