i can explain...

Hello out there? I hope you've stuck around. I believe it's been a week since I last blogged and that's not too normal for me these days. Don't want to make excuses, nor do I believe I need to justify it, but I'd love for y'all to know where I've been. No, not on vacation, although I wish.

This has been a very interesting time in my life. Brandon and I went from having a "perfect" little life in Charleston (I put perfect in quotes because that's obviously relative, but it really was completely pleasant, settled, and happy - which to me now seems pretty close to perfect) to moving into a lot of unrest.  We moved in with my parents, he started a new job, I've been traveling back and forth to Charleston to finish my 9 to 5 job at MUSC and the bottom line is: three hours on the road is just getting old.  Not to mention, we've been unsuccessful in finding a home to buy (although searching intently DAILY), been looking seriously into building, and still considering renting to make sure the area is exactly what we want. In the mean time, we've still been with my parents and while I absolutely adore them, that's not an ideal situation for anyone, right? I've been looking for a job and having to make some pretty big decisions professionally.  All that amongst maintaining this blog, doing the beauty articles for The Everygirl, and keeping time reserved for Brandon, my family, my friends, and myself has been a huge juggling act.  In summary, I got burned out and had to cut something for a breather.  So there went my daily posts on here. Just temporarily - I hope to be back for good now, but making no promises.

All this "stuff" going on has almost made me miss a good sale and you know by now that I hate when that happens.  So here are my favorite items from Shopbop that were JUST marked down!
These Frye boots are marked down 30% off and if you're like me, you'll be thanking yourself in the fall for picking them up at such a steal.  Oh- same goes for these Hunter Rag & Bone Boots that are marked down 30% ...yes, please. I'm picturing this Rosa dress with a light scarf to get you through these last days of cold weather and into spring (the almond color is 50% off!). And since I'm a sucker for a good classic, how about these Cashmere Double Infinity Scarves for 40% off? But if you're ready to bury winter in a little box and never see it again (like me), this Rebecca Minkoff Coral Tote is for you.

  3. I can totally relate to what you are going through and the need to take a break!

At the end of the year I switched jobs, moved from Illinois to Wisconsin where I am currently staying with my parents and my boyfriend and dog joined me two weeks later! We have been with my parents for about two months now and are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Just last week we closed on our first house and got engaged all in the same night! While I feel so incredibly blessed to have all of these amazing things going on it is completely overwhelming.

Best of luck with your job and home search and try to take some time to decompress and do the things you enjoy, it can become so stressful that you don't even get to enjoy the house hunt!

  4. I'd recommend not rushing to buy or build a house, especially since you don't have a job yet (thinking about location). Take your time and consider an apartment in the meantime. A lot of my friends and I are going through headaches with our houses, whether we want to move, rent our house, sell our house, upgrade. My husband bought our house before we even met. When you're 20-something and going through so many changes with jobs and family size a house can tie you down and it's not always a great investment as sometimes they can sell for a loss (my friends) or in my case, break even if we sold (but we have a townhome so we're going to rent.) :-)

  5. You're already doing a lot, so don't worry about cutting some things out or making blogging less frequent - your regular readers will still come back! I will keep my fingers crossed that you and Brandon find a perfect little place for you to live, I'm sure it will happen soon! Good luck with all these important things happening in your lives at the moment!
