weekly roundup

Happy Valentine's Day!  This week was filled with a high and a low.  We found out the house we were about to put an offer on (the only home we have LOVED for months) has a flood level elevation that is too low.  If we bought it, we'd be paying astronomical flood insurance and would have a hard time reselling it.  You know how you picture your life in a house and heck, you've even got that board pinned on Pinterest.  I mean... you just see yourself there?  And then it's taken out from underneath you quicker than your favorite dress sells out on a Gilt sample sale?  (I know you know that feeling.)  So yeah, back to square one.  On the other hand... the high.  Mum was the word until yesterday, but I am officially the new beauty editor for The Everygirl.  My first feature went up yesterday and it's got photos galore that explain steps to achieve two complete beauty looks for Valentine's Day.

In other news...

From the moment I found this recipe, I knew it might make all of my dreams come true.

Spotted this dress in Shopbop's new arrivals and I'm pretty sure I could live in it.

This is such a cute Valentine's idea ...and it totally makes me want a doughnut!

Discovered this artist and fell in love.

This is probably my favorite link of the week:  The One Year Wardrobe Resolution.  Christi (also from SC!) is documenting her one year journey about learning to be happy with what she has and discovering that less really is more.  She has made the commitment to not buy one single thing for herself all year (Can you even fathom that? I sadly can't).  But she has done so much more than that already!  Just take a look at her Facebook (or instagram).  She is living the "pay it forward" mentality and spreading it to those around her.  I love it!

Sales to shop this weekend...

J. Crew is offering 25% off Valentine's Picks with code HEART214.  Loving this keeper chambray shirt, my absolute favorite fluted skirt, and the fab pixie pants in tuxedo stripe.

Gap is having their "Best of Sale" event right now and there's some amazing deals you don't want to miss.  This stripe sweatshirt dress is on my radar, as are these always skinny skimmer jeans.  Oh, and this utility jacket.

At Club Monaco, you can take an additional 30% off sale items with code WEARNOW.  These faux leather leggings are fantastic.  Loving this leather-front sweater, too.

  7. Congrats on The Everygirl! Read it yesterday :)
& I def. can't fathom not buying a single thing (clothes or makeup wise) for a year. I've known people who have done "No-Buy" months…I should prob do that with makeup soon, but a big fat NO to my closet. :)

  10. Oh Megan, I do know what you mean about the house - me and my husband went through a similar thing, when a house we loved fell through (after me picturing us in there and pinning inspirational interiors on Pinterest)! But I had a feeling it happened for a reason and guess what - we found an even better house not so long after, and the purchase is currently going through! Don't give up, something better will come up soon!

And congratulations on the new collaboration! Such a fantastic opportunity - you are the perfect beauty editor for the site. Loving the first feature and looking forward to the next ones!
