what's in my bag

Isn't it somewhat of a natural tendency to be interested in what other women have in their bags?  A purse and its contents are such personal parts of women's lives.  You carry your bag every day, most everywhere you go.  So what's inside the bag must be pretty important... a bag of tricks, if you will.
I know I love these types of articles in magazines and on other blogs, so I thought I'd share with you!  It's pretty boring, honestly.  I try to keep my bag's contents pretty streamlined.  I hate clutter, so when receipts start to pile up in my wallet, it won't take but a few days until I can't take it anymore.
Ok, time to empty my purse!

I carry the taupe 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli.
I'm a bag person.  Everything has it's own little slot it it's own little bag.
Doesn't look like much, but don't let these bags be deceiving.  There are a lot of things in there!
Let's start with my makeup bag, which is the Jetsetter Small Dopp Kit from Henri Bendel.
Starting from the left, I've got blotting sheets, gum, and quite the array of.... tubes.  Chanel lipstick, YSL Rouge Volupte, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, Dior gloss, NYX butter gloss, a Smashbox travel mascara, NYX yellow concealer, and a sample of Coco Mademoiselle for touch ups.  I've also got a crystal nail file and an EOS hand lotion pod.  On the top (from the left),  there's a few wet wipes I pocketed from Wild Wings (I hate for my hands to ever be sticky...HUGE pet peeve), an Origins facial moisturizer in case of any dry patches throughout the day, a fold-up hairbrush, and Evian facial mist for a quick refresher.

The Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in the shade 'Secrete' is always within reach.  I wore it on my wedding day and it's the perfect "pick me up" shade for my skin tone.
Can't forget the new shades.  They are Ray Ban 3025 019/W3. (I can't, for the life of me, find them on the RB website to link for you.)
Also from Henri Bendel (but no longer available online), is the bag I use to organize all of my receipts, coupons, checkbooks, business cards, reward cards... the list goes on.

This bag is fab because it has a divider in the middle of the main compartment, so it helps to keep things organized.  Also in the front is a smaller compartment.  Little compartments like that make me happy.
...and it's contents.  A ziploc baggy with leftover gift credits from wedding gifts.  Checkbooks, a business card case, a couple stacks of cards, a pen, bundle of receipts, and a stack of coupons.
See the two stacks of cards above (the orange Ulta card and the Belk card)?  One is for reward cards - anything from the little punchy cards you get at fro-yo places, to my grocery store club card, to my library card.  The other holds a few gift cards.  I keep these tidy and organized in my bag by securing them with small binder clips.

Below you can see my bundle of receipts.  I like to staple them together so that they stay in the same place.  Then, if I need to return something, I can easily rip out that particular receipt.  This makes the biggest difference.  I hate stray receipts that wander around in the bottom of my purse!
...and coupons.  I hold these together with a big paperclip for easy accessibility.
Since I carry all of those loose papers in the little Bendels bag, it allows my wallet to stay clean & organized.  I use the Tory Burch Continental Wallet and absolutely love it.  I don't like any cards to be in my wallet except my bank cards & my license...ok and my old college ID in case I get a chance to take advantage of that discount.  In my wallet, I always carry around a green scapular that I was given in fifth grade.

Ta-da! There you have it.
Happy Humpday.

  1. Love this post. I always love to read this article in US Weekly. I'm impressed with your couponing and love seeing whats in your make-up bag on the go. I've not seen the EOS hand lotion and would love that. I still keep my college ID too for when I'm shopping at JCrew :)

  6. I am borrowing (stealing!) your genius idea of seperating coupons/bonus cards/receipts into one pouch and saving money/credit cards for the wallet. Great thinking and a perfect way to stay oganized! Thank you :)

  9. This is great! I need to add more bags to my purse to copy your organization. I always have coupons, receipts and store cards all over the place. I don't like a cluttered wallet, so I only carry a mini version of one with my bank cards and license too.
