Friday Five {workout gear}

{1}
GapFit

Side note... I have a confession.  I'm afraid to try on Lululemon.  I've walked in the store and perused their website a handful of times, but I forbid myself from trying anything on or placing an order.  I've admired from afar, but will I try those pants on?  Heck no.  I know myself too well and when I like something, I get it.  Well, when it comes to clothes at least (within reason, of course).  I just can't justify the price for workout gear.  I work out five times a week, but I only wear the pants for a little over an hour each day.  Props to all of you ladies out there who are rocking your Lulu.  I've found some amazing alternates and I'm here to share.

Gap has created a new line of compression active-wear called GapFit.  Y'all, it really, well... compresses.  I caught a major sale in our local store and racked up big time.  I'm obsessed with these two pants.  Comfy and slimming ...and wait for it... I got mine for $16 a piece.  Take that, Lululemon.

Another item I just can't get over is their Full Zip Jacket.  The thumb holes sold me, what can I say?

Moving away a little from clothes, I have another love... Nike Stability Shoes.
Last spring, I went on a quest to find the perfect workout shoe.  I ran on a treadmill at a shoe store and was tested to see which shoe was best for my foot and stride.  The shoe below (on sale!) was recommended to me, along with the Zoom Structures.  I LOVE them.  Most comfortable workout shoes I've ever owned.

C9 Champion
Target did something right in a major way when they introduced the C9 Champion line to their stores.  I'm obsessed with their sports bras.  They are only about $15 and hold their shape for a long time.

I usually am able to escape from the office to work out on my lunch break (gym is, lucky for me, across the street!).  Although I can rinse off in the shower after a workout, I don't have the time to remove my makeup and wash my face.  I improvise by using oil absorbing sheets to remove excess oil, but then I'm left with uncomfortable, tight skin.  This is where the Murad toner comes into play.  It calms my skin after a workout and refreshes my skin, leaving it soft and comfortable.  This stuff is also good for a midday pick-me-up after being stuck in yucky office air all day!

Under Armour ColdGear
I definitely wouldn't say I live in a frigid climate -even in the winter, but I'm still thanking my lucky stars for these compression leggings.  They have the softest lining and really help to keep you warm when exercising outdoors.  Or, for going to the grocery store or mail box.  I have been living in these this winter.

So there you have it.  My workout essentials.
Happy, happy weekend!

  3. I can't and won't justify Lululemon either. I won't even let myself go in the store for fear that I may not leave...or I may leave bankrupt. I have that Gap jacket and swear to you, I want to wear it every single day. I also LOVE those sports bras. So darn comfortable. I get Champion's capris too. Old Navy has some really great workout gear too!

  5. I love the Target sports bras too! I will look into trying the Gap line next time I'm at the mall. It's sad to say that I have a Lulu addiction and though it's over priced, I think the groove pants and wonder unders are worth the money. My fiance cringes at the word 'Lululemon'. I never put them in the dryer and that helps them stay looking new for a very long time. plus in the winter I wear groove pants anytime that real pants aren't necessary. I also think Marshall's is a good place for workout tops.

  7. I totally agree with you, I'm scared to try on Lululemon stuff. I do want to check out Gap & Old Navy's workout gear though!

  8. I'm obsessed with the Target C9 line - so glad to hear about the Gap compression pants!! I"m trying to break my Lulu addiction (seriously, don't even start shopping there, it's too dangerous)

  9. I have some GapFit gFast pants but I have to say, I splurge on Lulu's run inspire crops. I didn't want to like them or believe the hype, but they really are amazing! The material is supersoft and stretchy, I could live in them;)

  12. That Gap jacket looks great! I only buy Lulu when it's on clearance, it's good, but not full price good! Wonder if they carry UnderArmour at TJ Maxx?!

  13. If it makes you feel any better, I own lots of Lulu and GapFit items, and I like my GapFit pieces BETTER! Once you factor in the price... it's a no brainer, for sure!

  14. I have the Old Navy compression capris and leggings and love them. Will Have to try the Gap too. I have also foun some cute and affordable things from JCPenney's work out line. I too can't justify the lulu. And there is a new line that just came out called Ellie that is supposed to be more affordable.

  15. I have the compression leggings and capris from Old Navy and love them. I will have to try the Gap version too. And I have found some cute & affordable workout clothes at JCPenney recently. I also can't justify Lulu. There is a new line being released today called Ellie that is supposed to be more affordable with similar quality to lulu

  16. I avoided Lulu for awhile and finally went and tried on some leggings but liked my Nike leggings way better!

  17. Question about the Nikes... Do you wear them on the eliptical at all? I really only wear sneakers on the eliptical and sometimes the treadmill, and I'm constantly in search of a pair of comfy sneakers!

    Also, regarding Lulu... I am a huge fan. I do not let myself get caught up in the crazy trendy stuff, but for my basics (Wonder under crops, groove pants, power y tanks, and define jackets), it is the only stuff I will buy! Every other brand I have had gets pilly and faded, but Lulu holds up very well! Just my two cents!

  23. Couldn't agree with you more on the lulu pants - I have a pair that my mom gave me for my birthday last year...they are great but soooo expensive. I can't justify it either! I jut bought my first pair of Gapfit leggings and I am OBSESSED! They are exactly like lulu pants! I even heard they are made in the same fabric, so that should give everyone extra incentive to go get them.
