Friday Five

It has been a while since I've put up a Friday Five post.  I just love these... probably because they are allowed to be random.

{1}
Brandon and I are thinking about getting a beginner DSLR camera.  We've got a lot of big moments coming up in the future and we don't want to rely on iPhone pics and Facebook albums to document them.  This one is the front-runner right now.

I'm really struggling with the Nikon vs. Canon debate.  Bring on the opinions!

Julie of Belle Maison did a fantastic post (ok, back in June -I'm late to the game) on how to style bookshelves.  This has me rethinking my choices on styling my built-ins.

I've found an inexpensive shampoo that I just love.

I don't think I've used a two in one shampoo since I was nine years old.  But, this is fantastic for those of you with hair like mine.  I have fine hair that is oily at the scalp and dry at the ends.  I don't think I've met a shampoo that is so balancing.  Depending on how my hair feels when I rinse it out, I may or may not add a tiny bit of conditioner to only the ends.  It keeps my scalp oil-free FAR longer than my high-end shampoos, but keeps my strands super shiny.  Best part, it's sulfate free, which is a dream for those of us who color/high-light our hair.  I just love it and have declared its official spot in my rotation of shampoos.

Some friends of ours got together on Tuesday to watch the premiere of The Week the Women Went (Lifetime, Tuesdays at 10 EST) with my MOH, Ryan, who is on the show!

Ryan can cook!  This is just a little display of the food we had there.
My favorite was the grilled pimento cheese and bacon sandwiches.  Best part, she had strawberry preserves to spread on top.  Don't knock it 'til you try it!  It's amazing.

Brandon and I are standing on a chair in the back. ;)

I'm having a huge sitch with my closet.  I just purged things from it this spring and it's already way passed time to do it again.  But if I get rid of everything that needs to be tossed, there really isn't going to be much left in there.  I see some shopping in my future  I'm making use of what I have by mixing and matching.  Here's an outfit that I threw together with casual J. Crew shorts and a simple white tee, but made dressier for a night out by adding a white blazer (from Banana Republic).  Seriously, it's amazing what a blazer and heels can do. Wedges are old BCBG.

Happy Friday!!! I could scream that at the top of my lungs.  Seriously.

Mom and I are going to Charlotte this weekend to shop 'til we drop.

I had NO clue there were so many people there. I am so interested in this show now. I have the Nikon D3100 and LOVE it...but I really don't think you can go wrong with a Nikon or a Canon.

  10. OMG that food looks soooo good! Grilled pimento cheese and bacon sandwiches...WHAT?!?! YUM! You're outfit is so very adorable. I am also debating over Nikon vs Canon. I'm getting an SLR in Oct and so many people have told me to go with Canon....even Nikon owners. The camera I have now is Canon....very user friendly. I think I will probably end up going with Canon :)

  11. I have the Nikon D3100 and I've loved it so far. I got mine as a deal with 2 lenses instead of one (from Best Buy, but I've seen the same deal on Amazon)!

  12. After talking to a few friends that are photographer, and nannying for a wedding photographer, everyone has said hands down nikon. I have the nikon d3000 (before the d3100 came out) and chose nikon over canon because canon is made out of plastic materials. I have several friends that all have canon's and they are easy to use, but from speaking with professionals, an overwhelming amount has said nikon! Good luck with your decision! I love my Nikon!

  13. I've heard a lot of debating on the nikon vs. canon. I have the nikon d3000 (that was before the d3100 came out) and absolutely love it! I nannyied for a lady who was a professional wedding photographer and said hands down nikon. Canon makes their cameras out of a cheap plastic, and break easier. Nikon is also easier to find lenses for! Good luck with your decision!

  17. I worked for an amazing wedding photographer this summer (MelanieMauer.com), and she won't touch a Nikon. I took her advice and got a Canon Rebel..It's a winner on all accounts. CANON, hands down! Love your outfit with those bright shorts. You are adorable!

  19. We have a Cannon T3i and it is beyond amazing. But honestly just a point and shoot Cannon PowerShot is a good idea. Mine is AMAZING! And responsible for all our Hawaii honeymoon picture.

  20. NIkon! I'll agree with Elizabeth--I did a LOT of research and asked my own photog. I have the D5000 and love it. You can buy the body of the camera by itself on Amazon and then invest in a nice lens. (SO important!) I have an 18-200mm which wasn't cheap, but it is certainly worth it. Ok, was that a long enough answer?! ;) You look beautiful, as always! Much love, lady! xoxo {av}
