storytime with megan

Have you seen this necklace at J. Crew?

You may recall seeing it in a photo I posted a while back...

I was immediately in love with it.  I love all things turquoise and well, the bigger, the better.
What I wasn't crazy about was the $150 price tag.  Still, I felt ready to splurge the next time J. Crew offered an online sale (not too often, for the record).

Well, last night Brandon and I shopped around a little bit at the Tanger Outlets in North Charleston.  Their J. Crew is usually picked over, but I decided to walk in to browse around a little.  I needed a few basic tees to pair with shorts & skirts in this warmer weather.  As I approached the checkout counter, I seriously heard angels singing from Heaven.
There it was... a very, very close duplicate of the beautiful necklace in the J. Crew ad with the $150 price tag. 
There it was... only one "bubble" on each side & a slightly smaller size shy of being that exact necklace I've admired for so long.
There it was, with a $69 price tag.  -but wait, with a 40% off sign over the jewelry display.
...and the icing on the cake is that I still carry around my college student ID for moments like this. 
(J. Crew offers an additional 15% off to students)

And that, my friends, is the story of the time I got a $150 necklace for $35.

    Apparently they have that necklace at Versona for $14.99. Of course it may not be J Crew quality, but if you're looking for a cheap thrill... :)

    Oh my gosh Megan!! That is awesome!! I am so happy for you! Haha I feel like the necklace is something so awesome that everyone gets as excited as the purchaser!! That sounds kind of confusing sorry, anyway I am so excited for you!

    I bought a knockoff of the same necklace off ebay for $18. I'm sure it's not JCrew quality either, but I can't complain for less than $20! But I most definitely would have paid $35 for it :) Great find!

    I love awesome finds like that!!! I loved that necklace also but was not about to spend the 150 either but found it a few weeks ago on Ebay for 14.50!!!! I freaked out! haha

    This is too funny! I've seen this necklace all over the place on blogs and Pinterest. It's definitely a gorgeous find and props to you for getting it on the cheap! That just means you get to use the money you saved to buy an outfit to go with it, right?! :)

    LOVE it!! I just moved to Nashville where we have a J.crew outlet. And. I. am. in. Heaven. I have a post request! :) Derby and Steeplechase are approaching I cannot FIND the perfect dress (150 to 250 price range!) Can you do a post on cute day dresses!?! Would LOVE it.
