Weekend Mega-Post!

Deep breath.... I have a lot to say.

Happy Spring, beauties!

Can y'all believe it's already the end of March? Where did this month go?
I guess time flies when you're having fun!

...speaking of fun...

What a great weekend here in the SC lowcountry!

On Friday night, Brandon and I went to Red's Icehouse for dinner/drinks with some friends.  Red's is on Shem Creek and is always packed ...especially on a beautiful day!

We had about an hour wait, so we found our spot on the deck and watched the sun set. It was so gorgeous!

Then we went to Beaufort on Saturday to have a belated birthday celebration for his mom, whose birthday was March 8th.

Saturday was in the 80s and was sunny, sunny, sunny! We took the boat to lunch at an outdoor restaurant on the river and then went to the sandbar, where people anchor their boats to have a big party.  I can't describe to you all how happy being on the boat makes me.  The fragrant mixture of salt, sunscreen, burgers being grilled, and pluff mud is a scent much familiar to me, but I always take a new appreciation for it after a long, cold winter.

Brandon's parents!

After a day out in the sun and an awesome dinner at a restaurant in Frogmore, we were all exhausted.

The next day, we went to church together and to brunch at The Beaufort Inn's restaurant, Southern Graces.

(We did a lot of eating this weekend and it was all amazing!)

No surprise to me, but I forgot to take a picture of my plate before I ate the food on it.  But it was too good not to document it! The restaurant's brunch included the BEST french toast you could ever dream of, fruit, casseroles, a shrimp & grits bar, an omelet chef, carving station, salads, and other brunch regulars.

This picture of my plate just does not do it justice ...but here you go...

fruit, french toast, sweet potato breakfast casserole, artichoke dip & homemade chips  *Not pictured: shrimp & grits*

The Beaufort Inn is so charming. It is a historic, southern inn that is truly a retreat.  Lucky for those who aren't guests (like us!), the dining room/restaurant is open to the public. To give you a better idea of where we were for brunch, here are a few photos I found via google images.

desserts please!

With our brunch, we also had mimosas and multiple helpings from the most ahh-mazing dessert display!

I decided that the best was the coffee cheesecake, and yes, I can say this because I had one of everything.

No, I'm not joking.
(Reminder to self: MUST work hard in gym this week!)

Lucky for Brandon and me, our parents live about 30 minutes away from each other.  So after brunch, we headed over to visit my Mom and Dad where we ate again. Oh, and my brother was in town with his girlfriend and best friend. We got lots of visiting in this weekend and felt very blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.  I also feel as though I gained five pounds, but hey, such is life.
Hope you all have had a great start to the Spring season.

Oh, did any of you see the Super Moon on Saturday night? I saw it, but it didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. I did see photos on the Today Show this morning and was AMAZED at how huge it was! I don't know why it didn't look like that in Beaufort!

  7. I've only been to Beaufort once in the last few years. As a Carolina girl, I feel like I should take advantage of it's close proximity to me and go more often. Wasn't this wknd's weather just the BEST though?!?
