My Skin-Care Routine

Finding a great skin-care routine is something that has taken me a while to figure out, and it's far from mastered! I thought I'd share with all of you what I currently use on a daily basis, because they are great products (in my opinion) and are all fairly inexpensive! I always appreciate when I find good tips like this on other blogs, so I hope you all think the same about this post!

I use completely different products at night than I do in the morning.

Let's start off with my night routine:

I take my makeup off with Clinique's Wash Away Gel Cleanser.  This is created for oily skin and works wonders.  I've never found a makeup remover that takes everything off so easily.  Plus, you only need a pea size amount, so it lasts forever! The bottle comes with five ounces and I swear I've been using the same bottle for years.

Then I use Neutrogena's Deep Clean Cream Cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia.  I use the regular brush on my Clarisonic, so I choose to use a really gentle cleanser with it since the brush is so exfoliating.

Next, I tone my face using Neutrogena's Pore Refining Toner.  I love to use this after my Clarisonic because I feel that it really gets down in pores to lift up dirt that is deep down.

Then I apply Loreal's Pore Minimizing  Skin Re-Smoother to my t-zone area.  I wait a few minutes to let it absorb. I love this because it makes the pores on my cheeks appear much smaller!

Next, I put Olay's Age-Defying Anti-Wrinkle lotion on.  It has pro-retinol, beta hydroxy, and vitamin E, so it helps to treat/prevent fine lines and wrinkles.  This is very hydrating, but not so much that you can't use it during the day, too.  I use it sometimes for day and it is one of the few lotions I've tried that doesn't make my face look like an oil-slick!

Finally, I use Olay's Age-Defying Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream.

Woo! Okay... so that was all just for the night.

Morning Routine:

I don't use my Clarisonic in the mornings. I don't know why, but I just never have.  Instead I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub as my facial cleanser in the shower.  It is very exfoliating, so I feel that it really gets off all the products I've LOADED on my face the night before!

I don't use a toner in the mornings because it is fairly drying.  Even though I have oily skin, I don't want to make it too dry because then my skin will produce even more oil to compensate for how dry it is.
Not purdy, girlfriends.

After my shower, I immediately put on my facial lotion.  I use Jergen's Natural Glow Healthy Complexion.  It has SPF in it and it adds a hint of color to my pale face!

For an eye cream, I use the Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Roller.  I'm obsessed with this little guy.  It truly brightens up the eyes.  The tint of concealer in it works very well, too.  I use a regular concealer over it, as you know from my recent makeup review, but if you don't have bad dark circles, then this would be all you need!

Also, if I've been really stressed and get a pimple (eww, I hate that word), I mean "bump," then I use Clinique's Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel.  The salicylic acid in it really helps to clear up problem areas.  As needed, I use it at night, then again in the morning at the end of my skin-care routine.

So there you have it ...my skin-care routine.
(And Brandon wonders why my bathroom toiletry bag is packed so full whenever we go on trips!)
I recommend each one of these products, as I've been using most of them for a long time now and have always seen great results.

Do any of you use any of these products? I'd love for you to do a post so that I know what you all use and recommend!

XO

  6. For a really clean face I swear by St. Ives Apricot Scrub it's my fave. I know a lot of girls complain that it's to Harsh or rough on their skin but I know that's how it's really cleaning my face!

  9. I love this post!
I have recently sworn off tanning and am already in withdrawal...thank goodness for summer weather.
I want to start using the jergens you mentioned but I was wondering if it had that very noticeable sunless tanner smell to it?
    Thanks!
