Book Review:

"Meet Carrie before Sex and the City"

Have you heard of The Carrie Diaries?

This book is one of two prequels to Sex and the City & is written by the ever-so beloved, Candace Bushnell.
It was released on April 27th of this year, but I waited until this past week to read it.

The Carrie Diaries explores Carrie Bradshaw before Manhattan & Manolos.
It tells the story of how she grew up in Castlebury and ended up in New York City.

My thoughts?
First of all, I didn't know this book was aimed for girls (hey, or boys) in grades 9-12.
I knew the characters in the book would be high schoolers, but I guess it just never hit me that this is a book directed to a teenage audience.
I don't care, though, because now I know exactly how Carrie ended up in NYC.

The first half of the book was a little slow, but if you can get passed that point, you won't be able to put it down.
The very last line in the book had my mouth gaped open.
...such a great twist on the ending!

Read it, read it, read it!

That's all for now!

  1. Heyo! I read it too--and I concur, if you can get thru the beginning it is interesting to imagine where Carrie came from and how she became a writer.

And how she first met Samantha!!!

I'm sure a movie is in the works. Now, who would play young Carrie..I can picture Blake Lively but she is so Serena in my mind already.

  2. I agree! I bet they are working on the movie. I read somewhere that Candace Bushnell thinks Miley Cyrus would do a good job of playing Carrie, but I would HATE THAT!

Glad you read the book too! There is another prequel being released within time ...I can't wait to read that!

  3. Hey there! Your blog is super cute, love the background. I haven't read the book yet, but it is on my list because I'm a voracious reader! And Carrie cannot be played by Miley, that is wrong wrong wrong!
