...and just like that - we've moved. I am no longer a Charleston resident. I've given a few glimpses of our move on Instagram and on the blog, but haven't answered any questions about the details. It was a sudden move. Let's just say our December was filled with about six huge life changes, all within a few weeks. It's caused a lot of unrest and even sometimes fear, but we're trusting that this is the right path for us.
Brandon was offered a great job - really a perfect opportunity for him professionally. And this job is in BEAUFORT! We are moving "home." Being near both of our families warms my heart. I love Beaufort, I really do. Gotta say though - Charleston is a hard place to leave.
I was expecting tears, but they haven't come yet. If you know me personally, you know I am a VERY sensitive person. I cry a lot. I cry while watching the Lion King. I cry when I'm happy. I cried when the Today Show showed the Rockefeller Christmas tree being brought in on a truck. I cried every time I moved all throughout college... even if I were only moving two miles down the road. I mean, look at this embarrassing picture of me in Ryan's wedding.
Now that's just BAD. I'm sure that face will come soon enough when I think about our life in this beautiful place. But don't be fooled by my sob story, I am so excited to move to Beaufort. If you've been there, you know it's a little mini Charleston. Rich in history and beauty. It was even voted America's Happiest Seaside Town! It's really a great place. And only an hour and fifteen minutes from this other place I love, Charleston.
Back to the move. All of our things are in storage. Basically, we're homeless if you ask me. I am still in Charleston (working the job I love) and living with Ryan and her weepy groom up there (totally three's company). Brandon is in Beaufort starting his new job. I'll soon start commuting every day from Beaufort to Charleston until I get settled in a new position. I don't know where I'm going to work in Beaufort, but hey- we'll figure it out. I don't know where we're going to live. Do we buy, rent, build? ...and WHERE? Life has a lot of options, I'll tell you that. Thank you, Mom & Dad, for letting your married daughter and her husband live upstairs for a month or so. You thought you had gotten rid of me, didn't you? Oh me.
So yeah... there's that. I'll share updates, promise.
Good luck with the move! Beaufort is gorgeous, and I would totally move from Charleston to Beaufort. It's so relaxed and quiet and quaint!

ReplyDeleteBest of luck with everything! I know how hard this can be (I just moved in October for my fiances new job) and it can be tough at first but luckily you've got your family and Brandon near and things will all work out, sometims it easiest just to throw everything in the air and I'm always amazed at where we "land". Sending well wishes your way!

Aw, congrats and good luck!! I giggled about you crying over the Christmas tree. Hey, the holidays are emotional, I get it! Best of luck to you. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally could not handle seeing that beautiful tree cut down! ...then wheeled into the big concrete jungle. I didn't know if I was crying tears of sadness or joy. I'm a big baby.
DeleteBest of luck! Everything in His timing...

Good luck!! The exact same thing happened to my husband and I last December...we had exactly 2 weeks to move from DC back "home" to Raleigh,NC for his new job opportunity. Finding a home, planning our wedding 4 months later and me starting a new job all at the same time was a doozy, but I entirely trust in God's timing and that absolutely everything happens for a reason! Excited to read about your new adventure :)

Best of luck with your move! Times of transition can be hard when it feels like everything is up in the air but it sounds like this is the right move for you guys, so that's amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm sure it's all for the best, especially since you two are from there and have family nearby (will be nice when babies enter the picture!) And you're right, Charleston is not far away...I've heard great things about Beaufort. Good luck to you two in getting settled into your new home!

How fun for new adventures! Good luck with everything. (I think that photo is priceless!)
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Beaufort! Let me know if you need help with the job search- just did it about 8 months ago and landed at Kinghorn Insurance! We closed on our house yesterday in Gray's Hill and used Lisa Weslake with Century 21 as our agent. Let me know if you want her contact information. She was incredible- highly recommend. Do you know what area y'all are looking! Where will Brandon be working?

I am emotional too, so I am sending Tissues and Prayers that all works out... you know it will. Consider this a true testimonial to your new marriage, new opportunities, and many other blessings. I know all will work out, yikes on the 'interim' commute though...at least you have a reliable new car for traveling :) Happy 2014!

ReplyDeleteBeen reading your blog for a while, but a silent reader. Just had to comment and say "Welcome to Beaufort!" My hubs and I moved here 1.5 years ago, were also engaged here (at old sheldon) and now both work here! It wont take long for us to meet in such a small town, so looking forward to it!
