weekend

I went home to visit my parents this weekend.  We had a great time spending time together, eating, shopping, and watching Say Yes to the Dress (it was on so much this weekend -that and Bride Wars and Father of the Bride!).  Here are some photos from the weekend!

We went to dinner in Savannah.  On the way there, we passed this truck.  Pretty interesting cargo, huh?

Dinner at Pearl's Saltwater Grille was AMAZING!

Travel makeup items.

Great find at TJ Maxx!  I'm going to replace the two end chairs on my dining room table with these.  The end table/ottoman (far left) will find it's way into the living room somewhere.

Mom's wedding dress preservation box...
I had to try it on!  What I look like in it is no secret, so I'll share :)
We are thinking of ways to incorporate part of her dress into my wedding.  Brandon's mom wore a hat in her wedding, too.  It was definitely the trend!  Mom's is a bit bent out of shape, though.

Took the country roads back to Charleston!

  1. My cousin had her mother's wedding gown totally altered and wore it to her rehearsal dinner. It turned out beautiful, she removed the sleeves and turned it into a short length dress-so sweet. I am loving the neckline of your mom's! Her's might be perfect for the same alterations.

  2. Oh my goodness I tried my mom's wedding dress on a few weeks ago and it looks so similar to your mom's! I'll have to post it. Love those wicker chairs, too.

  4. So here's my idea. Would your mom let you alter the dress a little? Like loose those sleeves? you could totally wear it as a long white gown at the dress rehearsal the night before or at bridal shower! I think the gown it's self still has a lot of pizzazz!

  5. Your mom's wedding dress looks gorgeous on you! You should definitely alter it and find a way to wear it again. Love the last picture of the country roads!

  8. I agree with everyone- you should definitely try to have your mom's dress altered and wear it to your shower/rehearsal. It's a beautiful dress!

  9. Would be beautiful remade into rehearsal dinner dress...remove the sleeves and shorten it or leave it long by hemming the train. I wanted to remake my mothers for rehearsal but it just wouldn't work. We used some of the lace to make a heart that was hand embroidered with my initials and seen inside dress, and also made ring bearer pillows and flower girl baskets.

  10. Love you in your moms dress, my mom had a similar long sleeve version but she was so tiny I couldn't even fit in it, not that I wanted to wear it:). Country roads are the best. So Rembrandt sent me those white strips too. Now I'm terrified to try them, yikes!!

  11. Aww I love this!! The picture is so funny but I'm sure it made your mom totally happy/laugh to see you in it! I have seen on Pinterest and heard of girls wrapping their flower bouquet (stems) in the lace from a mother's dress..have you thought of that? Even then, if you get your bouquet preserved, you would still have a piece of it in your own home!
