Le sigh...yet another weekend that passed by in the blink of an eye!
As most of you know, Brandon and I are from the same hometown. It's such a wonderful blessing because his parents and mine live 30 miles apart. This is going to be a huge treat when we have little ones!
We traveled home this weekend and were immediately immersed in our happy places.
On Friday evening, we celebrated Brandon's mom's birthday. His parents fixed (Was just informed this is a southern thing to "fix" dinner. I heard on the radio this morning that we [southerners] "make up" the bed, but the rest of the country "makes" the bed. Sometimes I overlook all of these "southernisms" that y'all probably catch all the time on my blog.)
...where was I?
Oh yes! So his parents fixed an amazing dinner -homemade lump crab cakes, grilled shrimp, sauteed potatoes, and grilled asparagus.
If you have never eaten a crab cake, you are missing out on Heaven on Earth.
His parents brought me back a fabulous surprise from Belgium! They went to Brugge, the lace capital of the world (bet you didn't know that!), and bought this for me:
I love that my garter for my wedding has traveled all the way from Brugge. Such a unique, thoughtful gift!
On Saturday, we went to a wedding reception for one of Brandon's best high school friends. He got married two weeks ago in Utah, so his family hosted this small reception so that they could celebrate with friends and family.
Here are some of us...
Afterwards, we went to a friend's house, made a bonfire by the river bank, and told stories for a few hours. This, my friends, is all there is to do in our hometown, but we wouldn't change it for anything!
After church and lunch with my family on Sunday, my mom and I drove to Savannah, GA (only about 45 miles from my hometown in SC) for a full day of shopping.
I stocked up on a few wedding decorations. I was going to rent six glass cylinders for $340, but found some gorgeous ones at Homegoods for $15 a piece! Best part is, I'll own them when it's all said and done. Got to love that store, not only for that reason, but also for reasons like this:
First person to "name that blog" wins :)
I wore this on our shopping adventure:
J. Crew Boatneck Tee, True Religion jeans (old), Sam Edelman Gigi Sandals |
My weekend also consisted of fun things like this:
Are y'all interested in product reviews? I feel like I'm constantly trying new products and would love to give my opinions on some of them if it's something worth reading. Yay or nay? Let me know in the comments!
Oh, and fun things like this before I left Charleston:
And pretty things like this... the outskirts of my yard at home in Ridgeland.
...and a bittersweet last view of Beaufort before returning "home" to Charleston. Apparently, I have two homes :)
Hope you all had happy weekends!
